The Centre for Women’s Studies (CWS) launched the Student Working Paper Series.The papers feature here are drawn from conference presentations made by students in an International Student-Faculty Conference titled, ‘Gender, Sexualities and Violence: Perspectives from India and the UK’, which was organized by the Centre for Women’s Studies in January 30–31, 2010. A total of 15 Student Papers were presented at the Conference, of which 9 papers are being printed in this series. These papers cover a broad range of themes like Sexuality, Culture and Society looking at issues of structures, constructions and representations; continuities and discontinuities in context of the debates on tradition and modernity; violence and its relation with sexual violence and power, and newer concerns in the light of the blurring of conventional boundaries of relationships, laws, nationalities information and communications.
